AI-assisted flight planning, built for pilots.

AIVFR helps you plan UK VFR flights with AI-backed insight; surfacing considerations, checking your work, and helping you think through decisions. Not to replace your judgement, but to help you make it.

Oh, and it's free and open source!

Features

So... What does it actually do?

The whole premise of AIVFR is assisted decision making.

AI Flight Planning Assistant

AIVFR uses AI to generate full flight plans, full flight briefs considering weather, weight and balance, and more. It can also help you find alternate solutions to problems such as overloading.

Official Documentation

A passion project made from scratch

The very first public version of this tool v1.0.0-beta was made as part of the 2026 OCR Computer Science A-level Non-Exam Assessment, and was completely from scratch. It's the most ambitious project I had ever done, and was fundamental in my journey of learning web-development and coding in general! It received an A* with full marks!

If you'd like to see the full documentation of the initial development of this webapp, or just want an exemplar to follow for your own NEA, you can download it here. I guarantee you'll find it interesting!

A bit about me

Meet the creator

Hey, I'm Alim, and I'm the creator of AIVFR. I'm a Private Pilot and quite the coding nerd, with an ambition to go commercial in the near future. This project has been my way of learning web and software development, which is why I decided to continue developing it after the initial exam submission, and has quickly become my go-to pastime.

My hope is that it can be useful to other pilots too some day, or, at the very least, be an inspiration of how one can combine their passions to create something new and exciting. If you're into this stuff and would like to contribute, or just have questions, don't hesitate to contact me! I'm always looking for new ideas and ways to improve this project.
